Why I Stopped E-Fed Blogging

So, Holz recently returned to writing his blog, which has promptly prompt me to return to writing to mine. (I did make an attempt two months ago, but failed miserably. Now is attempt number 2) The reason I stopped however, wasn't because of Holz or anyone else.

I just simply lost the interest, and I lost the material.

Now, I didn't lost what I have. I have tons and tons of old cards from 21W, tSC, A!, any number of anciently deceased but awesome promotions. But no, see, I didn't really have anything of meaning to add to any of that. I was never a part of 21W(besides an awesome interfeud with them in Asylum with Eddie Cheno, where I wasn't even a part of the actual interfeud), had very little to do in Action!(I handled for four months three characters. My biggest goal was just getting a High Flyer/Joey Malone match out of it) and even less to do on tSC(I believe Renner asked me for scripting help and I did very little in means of helping him. I also co-wrote a segment on one of the early shows, perhaps even the first). I've known a lot of characters that came in and out of those places, but I was never hands on for anything. And the bookmark, I was imagining as a place you could come to find ancient e-fed scoops, just, things you didn't imagine even existed in this game but are there, hiding in the dark recesses of people's computers.

Perhaps I should have advertised, got people to start sending me this type of material, annonymously or not. Then again, asking other people to send things, could wind up with the public reveal of dirty laundry, or a future angle for a closed fed that a handler wished to use another place being completely spoiled. So, I refrained. I dug through my archive, found various tidbits, mostly about myself and my experience in the game, and posted them up.

I ran out of that sort of information quickly.

I mean, I could post old material, old shows, but no one wants to read that. No one's going to come here to read an e-fed show from 2000 when they read that tripe in 2000, and it's got way more spelling mistakes now than we realized back then. Which brought me questioning the value of this game. Which ultimately left me questioning my value as a writer.

I started this blog in May of 06, essentially without a home fed, bored and disinterested. I did this as a favor to Russ, as a spinoff/side segment of his yearly magazine, which he had planned to go monthly. In fact, I believe he got a month or two of good material out before something happened. I don't want to air his personal whatever but I think he moved and such. So, time was an issue, and the project fell by the wayside. Without someone knippin' on my heels for fresh content, I got content(heh, I love those types of words) to just post old. And when I ran out of compelling old content, instead of posting lameness, I just stopped posting.

So, now, I return, with the intentions of not posting old material, or posting "fantasy booking," but just weekly thoughts. Random. Think of it as a continuation of my old FWLNet Column from 2000... only with much better grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

At least I hope.

A New Site Address Springing Up Everywhere!

Well folks, it's been a while, but I figure I'd start yammering here and see who stumbles on it.

My topic today? Internet web addresses, and when to change them.

Now, as a former fed runner myself, the most common theme among changing your web address is simple forgetfulness, or various legal issues standing in the way. In 2000, the IWO lost it's long time domain iwo-online.com for a year, and then we lost it again the next year. It's why we're currently on internetwrestling.org, which mind you, may be one of the longer names in the game today to have a dot com(Hell, it's not even a dot com, it's a dot org. I thought I would be clever.)

Now, recently, both CSWA and fWo, two long standing e-federations, have changed their web addresses. What gives?! Travis makes mention that the change is meant for fluidities sake, in a manner to make it easier for us to get to his product. Even still, on fwowrestling.com, he still retains a re-direct.

On the CSWA side, I stumbled upon the site one day to find it completely vanished. Only recently, in fact, minutes ago, in what inspired this blog post, did I find a new site for the CSWA, or perhaps just an archive, depending on Chad's approach, at thecswa.com. With Chad and the CSWA, I don't know exactly what caused the change either, but I can think to myself that it wasn't exactly a planned manuever.

But why change your address? I mean, personally, I think that just makes it harder for people to find you. Not only do you have to resubmit your federation to a various ever growing list of databaseses, but you've got to redirect server paths on scripts, perhaps even install better compatable versions even.

It's a lot of busy work to mitigate a site from one location to another. When restarting from scratch, in the fWo's case, I can see why not having the clutter of the old would be a benefit. For something like CSWA's, where everything remains the same, you've got to wonder if Chad always had this site as a back up, or if this was done recently when the domain expired without his knowledge.

So, who knows. I know that I handled at least five different site mitigations between 2000 and 2003, and ultimately, that was one of the most frustrating things a federation could go through. Every three months it seemed we had the unluckiest luck in the world. When you're fighting to stay online every other day, it might be best to switch domains. If you're retooling things from scratch, perhaps it's best to start on a new domain as well, but I'd argue, in either case, that getting a new server would be a better solution to both problems.

Bah. This is a ramble with no real point, just inspiration faded into nothingness. Still! It's a sign that I'm attempting to write in this piece, and we'll see what comes of it.

Ike(a) Chapman Applies to theAsylum

I found this. It seemed interesting, as it's a character created by Chapman that I don't particularly remember. Things like that are quite compelling.

Fighting Style:

Ring Out: 0

Submission: 5

Quotes: “We have chosen… You live our dream.”
“Sleep… Rest… DREAM.”

Description of Fighters Gimmick or Personality: Dream is portrayed by both Darren and Daniel. The two share a distinct bond that is mysterious in its nature. Darren knows what Daniel thinks and vice versa. Daniel is the quiet one of the two, while Darren has the dominant personality. Neither are opposed to violence, but as Dream they see things differently than normal people.

Fighters Appearance: Daniel is more reserved and contemplative in appearance with starch white hair and black eyes, while Darren has black hair and white eyes looking much more violent. Muscular for their small frames, the two are rather tall yet not fierce in appearance.

Fighters Background: Darren and Daniel Mitchell were born on the same day to the same mother in the same city. They were twins, but very different twins born to a single mother forced to work night clubs in East St. Louis. With unique personalities, they remained protective of each other, but fate directed them. Often when they would sleep they would hear gunshots outside, and feel the pain of each death.

Their dreams were vivid, and connected them to the victims in the world. Their reality came in their sleep. While Daniel reacted with anger and violence, Darren reflected upon the strange occurrence and connection they shared with each other and the souls of others. Daniel was the more brash of the two, and it was he who took care of Darren. Darren, a child who spoke no words until he his 12th birthday, was not weak by any means. Although Daniel was always fighting, trying to silence the noise, Darren learned to control the dreams, and make the night his reality.

Darren was the popular one, social, and got along well with the right kids in the private catholic school. Their mother made enough money to send them there, and give them some escape from the grim city. Daniel merely relied on Darren, and was seen as mysterious in school. Always double dating with Darren, the two were inseparable and Daniel too was popular in a much more subdued way.

At night, in the dreams, Daniel was in charge as Darren only listened. Darren was always more helpless in controlling the dreams, which caused him to take charge in reality. Daniel was constantly reflective, but as the two grew older they grew wiser. They both realized that they must control their fates, and worked hard, as they grew cold to the world around them in East St. Louis.

Now, they come to theAsylum with the goal of ending the pain they feel from the organization as a whole. They need to do something, to stop the pain, and end the blind sleep. To wake up each and every member and show them that what they had inside the cage, is not reality. It is merely a dream…

Fighters Career History: Fought randomly in East St. Louis in various street brawls, always protecting each other.

IN CHARACTER –

Personally for me, Ike Chapman, theAsylum has always been the only place I truly aspired to enter. I have participated in other feds, and I enjoy my time there, but theAsylum was always the place I wanted to be. My favorite writers and characters were there. M.U.D., Token Weed, Pete Borst, theInmate, Angel Dalton, and later characters like Shadowfire, Rave Caprino and Milo Samus only made me want in more.

I admire the hard work, and I feel that I have a story to tell. One that fits theAsylum. If things don’t work out, they don’t work out, but regardless theAsylum is truly a unique place. The tone and the aspects that each character brings are all self contained and they cannot be found anywhere else. It is truly my dream to work with Steve Dunphy one day, I am the number one M.U.D. mark, and theAsylum is a place I feel I can truly produce.

Also a corny answer would be that my character is "Dream" and it is my dream to be in theAsylum. Okay I am a dork.

Sample of the Concept for DREAM:

We are always together. We dream the same dreams. We know the same things. We speak with the same voice. It is time for theAsylum to awaken. To escape the nightmare and to give us our peace. We do not fight together, we fight as one. We are one. We are Dream.

I am Darren Mitchell. I am here to force those in theAsylum to see what they are blind to. The deception and pain they cause their souls. The anger, frustration, and greed that fuels their lives. I am here to end theAsylum’s pain… I am Darren, I am Dream.

I am Daniel Mitchell. I am here to lead theAsylum to their own salvation. To save them from the evil that lays within. To protect them as they sleep, as I drift to a new reality. I only want the pain to end, and the healing to begin… I am Daniel, I am Dream.

Dream Wrestling Purchased by Ron

DWNDarren: >Darren Crouse will refrain from direct or indirect involvement in
web related wrestling projects, whether these projects be fantasy, real, simulation, games, resource, news, etc. al. without the written consent of Ron Meischker.
What does this mean? If I did my DWN idea and it had a section on wrestling or
e-wrestling, I would need a written consent from you?
PhantomBooker: I don't want you competing with DWW.
PhantomBooker: That's a given in any transaction like this.
DWNDarren: ya, but you have any wrestling sites man, and put an expirary date on
that
DWNDarren: like the 6 months

DWNDarren: the name zero account I wouldn't worry about... I don't know my user
nor password to get into it.
PhantomBooker: ok
DWNDarren: also, "Now remember, I can't give you DWW/DWF until I received all the money, which I'm expecting will be past October 24, so will that change
anything about the "Servers w/contract through October 24, 2001""
DWNDarren: or
PhantomBooker: Yes
PhantomBooker: I am responsible after the 24th
DWNDarren: so, you will own the site after the 24th whether or not you paid me
fully yet?
PhantomBooker: No, that's not the case
DWNDarren: ok, explain
PhantomBooker: If you'd like, I can pass you the cash for the new server
PhantomBooker: Then you can register it
PhantomBooker: So you have some semblance of control.
DWNDarren: I like things simple, so don't worry about that
PhantomBooker: Ok, then I will just give you server access then.
DWNDarren: ok, everything is cool with the contract then, except for you need to
date that one thing

ddwww.com expires on 07-Mar-2003

Cheap Shots and No Whats, 7th March, 2002

21Wrestling.com

Disclaimer: This column features the comments, thoughts and views of Matt Wilson, and his alone. 21wrestling.com does not endorse nor agree with his opinions and any complaints should be made to the man himself.

Welcome to the first edition of what I would have liked to have called "Matt Wilson's Boswic Hating Column", but after much persuasion by the 21wrestling.com staff, I've decided to call it "Cheap Shots and No Whats". Well, actually they threatened to take it to Mark Knight and make me suffer a pay cut if I didn't change it to something unbiased. Hrm. Remind me to add them to my revenge list. Yes, even you Paul.

What will I, one of 21w's brain-dead fans find in this piece of conceptual art titled "Cheap Shots and No Whats", you ask? Well, let me just say this, I'm drinking a few beers and writing whatever the hell comes to mind. Believe me, it will be as fun for you to read as it is for me to write. Whether the content is true or not, I couldn't give a damn... I'm gonna submit it anyways.

People keep asking me "What?". Hrm, good question, but I feel the bigger question is "When?", as in "When is my pizza going to get here?".

My sources tell me that Boswic was involved in an incident on the streets of Chicago several days ago. What happened, you ask? Apparently he suplexed an ice cream vendor through his stall because they ran out of his favourite flavour, tuti fruti. Temper temper, Boston.

While we're on the subject of Boswic, am I the only one who finds it funny that his real name is Boston when his hometown is Chicago? Bah, you people wouldn't understand.

It's sad to see Hostile Grounds break up. Oh well, bring on the System! These guys were good pre-System, but now that they've teamed up, they're even better. Not too sure about the Component numbers 1 and 2, though. Maybe they should bring Jacob Utsler into the group and form a threesome... uh... forget I said that.

If there were one man I wouldn't want to run into in a dark alley, without a shadow of a doubt, it would be Mr Haunt. This guy is seriously creepy. Run Aren. Run for your life. Gah, I just can't believe this guy... how the hell did he know about Aren's childhood possessions? But the thing is... we've all seen Aren's phobias on television before - fear of public speaking, fear of doors, fear of deodorant (heh, I just threw that one in) - can you imagine what it's like to be Aren Archer right now? I've seen him backstage - he's paranoid - Mr Haunt's mind games are working like a charm. But when these two are scheduled to meet in the ring, I think Aren will need
to be dragged kicking and screaming down the aisle...

Freakred is sick... and that's a good thing. After reviewing the tape of Uncut from a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say that that chairshot replaces Tommy Dreamer's chairshot on Raven as the "Chairshot Heard 'Round the World". I haven't seen Steve-O anywhere since that night. Not backstage, the 21w offices, the 21w training facility - nowhere. Congratulations Freak... I owe you a coke.

I demand a new broadcast partner. Kris is forever making up names for moves. Come on, "leg grapevine"? What the hell? Gimme the good old "twisty leg thing" any day!

This just in... "Golden" Glen Miller is thinking about purchasing some property in the UK. Does anyone happen to know how much London is selling for these days?

For those who've asked, my gamblers help program is going really well. I'm down to gambling three times a day! Whooo! Who the man? Matt's the man!

My homey Fingers tells me that brothers Jacob Utsler and Vendetta (or should I say Wendy?) are considering officially entering the tag team division here in 21w. The reason? Utsler is jealous of Billy and Chuck of the World Wrestling Federation. "If they can do it, so can we" is his motivation, apparently... but I think it may be something else, you know, the fact that he'd be in the ring with 3 other guys, compared to one on one. But, I tell you this, if he starts bringing the softcore style to tag team matches... ugh... dude, that's just sick...

People have been asking me who I feel will win the tournament to decide who goes on to face the heavyweight champion (Cough, Glen Miller, cough cough) at 21w Titania. My answer? I really don't know. Whether I like the superstars entered in the tournament or not, there is a lot of talent there, and I think at this moment in time, anyone could win it.

Now I would like to introduce to you a regular feature in "Cheap Shots and No Whats", it's a little list I've compiled which I like to call "The Big 6". It's one better than the big five... five better than the big one... twice as good as the big three. This edition's topic? Why "Golden" Glen Miller is still the man.

6. At 49 years of age, he's still got - get ready for this - all of his own hair. Oh, it's true.

5. He has the best manager in the business, Torbensen. Come on, Torby has been with Glen for years now, and anyone who likes Glen that much is all right in my book.

4. Has no signs, I repeat, no signs of sagging manboobs. Not even a little.

3. Glen has the most original and best finishing manoeuvre ever devised in professional wrestling history - period. Honestly, you never see it coming. Bam! Off one rope. Bam! Off the second. Kabam! Golden Elbow. Ahhh... I love it.

2. He's Golden.

1. Actually, he's a Golden God... I just couldn't think of any more reasons why Miller is the man, so I had to stretch it a little. But don't you think he isn't the man... cuz he is. Boy howdy, is Glen Miller the man! Random quote of the month? Life is an acorn - you bite it and it's hard. Think about it. I predict the following:

- Aren Archer will win gold before the summer... haha... okay, I made that one up.

- Sanchis Su Idolo will get mad because he isn't on the Soul Survivor poster. And who would blame him? I know exactly how it feels to be screwed over and over again when it comes to PPV posters. Seriously, who wants to see Tyke on a poster? Or Coby? Or Boswic for that matter? Bah.

- Boswic will grow some balls by fall... haha... I made that one up too.

- Freakred will leave the wrestling world and become a rapper. His first single? "My name is Freakred and my tag team partner just screwed me over so I'm gonna get some revenge by ramming my barbed wire baseball bat down his throat". Catchy, eh? Methinks that this one will reach to top of the charts in no time.

- Mr Haunt scares me. Wait, that isn't a prediction... hrm.

- 'the Original' Jeff Garvin is one talented sunnuva, and it won't be long till he's at the top of the rankings here in 21w. But if he thinks he's gonna get one up on Glen Miller, he's got another thing coming! Whooo!

- My pizza will never come. Dang.

- I'm going to run out of things to say...

- Umm... - Hrm...

- Boswic sux! Tehe.

Mike Ritz v Glen Miller at Soul Survivor? I don't see it working, personally. Sure, Mike Ritz is rather the golden chap himself, but, he's gonna be carried by Miller. Yeah, you heard me.

Were you as shocked as I was when we saw Tyke beat the hell out of his long time tag team partner and close friend, Coby Wright? I don't like either of those guys, but come on, this is big news! But you have to wonder, what part does Rayne play in this split? She is one sick, twisted and manipulative woman who is capable of anything... plus, she says lots of big words.

Speaking of Rayne... where the hell did she learn to fight like that?! Hrm, now that I think of it, maybe I'd better think twice about asking her out to dinner...

Well, I reckon I should end this edition while I'm ahead... uh... yeah... For now, I hope your burgers are cold and your drinks are warm, or something to that degree.

Adieu.
